Green cities – An innovative approach for a more liveable future
Today, more than half of the world’s population lives in cities. As the urban population grows and the effects of climate change worsen, our cities have to adapt. For the past 30 years, this topic brought numerous conversations with no real solutions to fix the different problems related to climate change or even deforestation. The panel discussion created insightful conversations in finding sustainable solutions to urbanisation as well as shaping our mind-set in being sustainable.
- There is a need in sharing our knowledge, working together and collaboration amongst all the stakeholders namely government, public and private sectors, local community is crucial to bring our sustainable initiatives and projects to life.
- In the near future, Mauritius will see the beginning of new era; modern yet sustainable housing development that take into consideration the community. It is critical to alleviate poverty by giving the proper environment to the young generation of the less favoured community and offer them a proper infrastructure to help them learn and grow their knowledge.
- Last but not the least, the important thing that has been pointed out is how to make the projects viable though generating revenues that will lead investors to be more implicated and willing to invest more and support those sustainable projects.
