Jannette Horn

Group Sustainability Manager, Sun International, Johannesburg

Jannette Horn has 22 years’ environmental and sustainability experience and is currently the Group Sustainability Manager for the Sun International group. Jannette’s experience includes 15 years of environmental consulting primarily focusing on environmental management for mining, infrastructure, engineering and the manufacturing industries.

Over the past 8 years Jannette’s focus shifted from environmental consulting to corporate sustainability and she has been instrumental in developing, implementing and managing sustainable business strategies for listed companies in South Africa such as Altron, Altech, Bytes, Netstar and now Sun International. As head of Sustainability for Sun International her main focus is to develop and implement an integrated sustainability strategy that ensures the group maintains its operational and social license to operate whilst building a sustainability culture within the group that focuses on environmental, health and safety and socio-economic development. She continues to enhance the group’s business strategies by aligning business practices to incorporate and support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to create a long term shared value for the business, employees, affected communities and the environment.

Jannette has a BSc Honours Degree in Environmental Management (University of Johannesburg) with a Post Graduate Diploma in Economic and Management Sciences from the University of Pretoria. She currently serves on various internal board committees as well as on the Audit and Risk Committee of the National Business Initiative (NBI) in South Africa.
