Thato Matsafu, head of primary markets in the Capital Markets division at the JSE, leads a dynamic team that drives new listings – by local and international issuers – which include equity, debt, specialist securities such as Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), warrants and hybrid instruments.

Before joining the JSE, Thato was the head of treasury at the City of Ekurhuleni for two years. He assisted the city with liquidity management, capital raisings of the capex programme funding and managing the city’s investment portfolio.

Thato’s vast past experience, prior to joining the City of Ekurhuleni, includes senior roles at Africa Rising Capital, Deloitte and the National Treasury.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Business Finance as well as Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of South Africa (Unisa), which were completed in 1998 and 2000 respectively.
